UKANDU Mission Statement:
“Walk alongside others, with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to bring hope and encouragement as we serve.”
UKANDU is a Christian Mission Organization dedicated to helping youth and adults become the heart and hands of Christ to those in need around the world. Our proactive philosophy lives in scripture and is reflected in our unusual name. "I (You) CAN DO all things through Christ who strengthens me." (Phil 4:13). And, "For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." (Eph. 2:10).
The work of UKANDU Missions is to reach out to as many of God's people in all places and in all circum- stances as the loving, caring and merciful hands of Christ. We believe in helping youth and adults experience the joy of fulfilling the "good works" prepared in them by creating mission trips that serve God by serving His people here on earth.
UKANDU upholds the Bible as the inspired, unchanged Word of God that has revealed to us God's rich plan of salvation through the death and resurrection of Christ. It is out of this awesome gift of grace that we feel led to serve God in any manner possible and to demonstrate what the Lord has done in our lives.

We have been building relationships with inner-city Chicago ministries through Chicago Lutheran Education Foundation, the Northern Illinois District of the LCMS and a number of faith-based ministries. The partnership with these organizations and church/schools has opened up doors for more outreach possibilities and given us new connections each year. Our faith family continues to grow in Chicago and we truly feel called to keep our efforts focused where relationships are being built!
Our overall desire and purpose is:
- Encourage our brothers and sisters in the ministry
- Connect communities to a local ministry
- Involve our own congregation
- To be a blessing
- Grow spiritually
