Three Nights of Prayer at Summerfest 2016

IMG_0982(1)I’m really looking forward to this year’s Summerfest. In addition to serving our community together, we will have a focus on prayer. The best way to learn to pray is hearing others pray! I hope you’ll join us for three unique opportunities to learn to use the power of prayer in your daily life. All the programs are free, but we would like a headcount, so REGISTER ONLINE NOW. Read on for the schedule. Get ready to pump up your prayer life!

Monday 6/13: “Teaching Prayer”—learn from author, Manny Mill, who wrote Radical Prayer and Radical Redemption. Manny is Executive Director of Koinonia House Ministries, a leader in prison ministry. After 30 minutes of teaching, you will get to ask questions, submit prayer requests, and pray in huddles or silently. In the church sanctuary.

Tuesday 6/14: “Healing Prayer”– After a time of soft music and biblical teaching on the practice of anointing & laying hands, pastors/leaders will offer prayer for healing—physical, emotional, or mental hurts. Depression, addictions, or other strongholds. Pastors will offer anointing oil, which was used medicinally and for comfort in the Bible. Bring a friend or just the name of a friend in need. In the church sanctuary.

Wednesday 6/15: “Taking Prayer to the Streets.” Very similar to the Blessing Walk from last yearPastor Dan will lead a group on a walk nearby St. John’s and into downtown Lombard. We will hand out tracts and offer prayer to people we see (merchants, commuters from train, etc.) with a simple offer: “We are from St. John’s and care about our community. Is there anything we can offer to pray for you?”
