Earl Arthur Rueffer born May 4, 1920 to Clara and Edward Rueffer in Melrose Park. He was baptized June 16, 1920 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Melrose Park and confirmed March 25, 1934 (Romans 1:16).
Earl was proceeded in death by his parents Clara and Edward Rueffer. He was the beloved husband of the late Emily, brother to the late Raymond (late Phyllis) , loving uncle to Karen (the late John) Danuser, the late Kenneth (Velta) Rueffer, Jeff (Cindy) Rueffer; loving great uncle to Kim, the late Kristopher, Brian (Megan), Eric, Laurie (Brian), Katie and Michael. Loving great, great uncle to many nieces and nephews.
He was born and raised in Melrose Park and graduated from Proviso East HS in 1938. He served during WWII In the US Army from May 1942 to December 1945, serving in the Philippines and Australia. He lived in Melrose Park and worked at Commonwealth Edison. He attended St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Melrose Park and served as an usher. He married Emily in 1984 and happily celebrated 25 years together. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to camp, hunt and fish. He also loved to tinker. He was always prepared to write anything down with his handy pocket notepad.
Service will be held Monday, March 12th with Earl Lying-in-State from 9:00a until the time of the Funeral Service at 10:00a at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 215 S. Lincoln Ave., Lombard, IL. Interment Elm Lawn Cemetery, Elmhurst, IL.
