The ninth season of Artist Series presentations at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Lombard,
continues Sunday, November 15, at 3:00 p.m. with Cowboy Rick Pickren presenting “Songs
of the Singing Cowboys.” Listen to some of Rick’s songs HERE.
Contest, singer-songwriter-actor Pickren and his trio will take listeners back to the glory days of
radio and old-time western movies, featuring familiar melodies such as Gene Autry’s “Back In
The Saddle,” Roy Roger’s “Tumblin’ Tumbleweeds,” Tex Ritter’s “High Noon,” Rex Allen’s “The
Red River Valley,” Frankie Laine’s “Rawhide,” among others. Pickren is a graduate of the
University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Music degree and an MFA in Theater. He has shared
the stage with George Strait, Merle Haggard, Dolly Parton, The Judds, B.J. Thomas, and cowboy
poet Waddie Mitchell.
An informal reception with light refreshments will follow the concert, during which the
distinctive watercolor and acrylic paintings, as well as the poetry, of Glen Ellyn resident Marilyn
Peretti will be on display and available for purchase.
The public is cordially invited to attend the Pickren event and the reception. As always, no tickets will be
sold for the program; a free-will offering will be received.
