Comfort Dog Ministry

The St. John’s Comfort Dog Ministry aims to share the love of Jesus with those who are hurting or in need through our specially trained comfort dog. Eve Comfort Dog joined our congregation on December 5, 2015.

Eve is a Lutheran Church Charities (LCC) K-9 Comfort Dog. She interacts with people at churches, schools, nursing homes, hospitals, events, and in disaster response situations. Eve is a friend who brings a calming influence and allows people to open up their hearts and receive help for what is affecting them. Eve Comfort Dog is available to visit your church, school, group, or organization. To request a visit from Eve, please call the church office at 630-629-2515.

Want to Get Involved?

We would like to thank so many, both members and non-members, that have endorsed our Comfort Dog program financially, prayerfully and in many other ways to make this program a reality at St. John’s.

To contribute to the St. John’s Lombard Comfort Dog Fund, go to our online giving page (a new window will open). You may also send a check made out to “St. John’s Comfort Dog” to the church office: St. John’s Lutheran Church, 215 S. Lincoln Ave., Lombard, IL 60148. This money goes specifically toward the care and feeding of Eve, the operation of the Comfort Dog ministry, and travel expenses for Eve and her handlers when she is deployed to an assignment.

For more information on LCC Comfort Dog Ministries, visit the Lutheran Church Charities website.

We are also seeking Ministry Partners to accompany Eve’s handlers as they bring God’s comfort out into the community. See our Opportunities page for more information on this volunteer opportunity.
